Construction and parking update for Sept. 26

On Friday, October 4, contractors will be excavating the area of roadway in front of the Clinical Services Building (CSB). Traffic using the 28th Avenue entrance will be affected. Flaggers will be on hand directing traffic.

no waterOn Saturday, October 5, there will be a full water shutdown at the Clinical Services Building. There will be no running water all day. Please be aware that there may be air pockets and water may be cloudy following the shutdown. Patients and families are advised to run water until it is clear, before using.

BC Children’s and BC Women’s Roofing Project Begins
Roof replacement at Children’s and Women’s Hospitals is set to begin next week. Scaffolding will go up tomorrow, just outside of Second Cup. Scaffolding will not affect pedestrian travel. Construction will likely go until spring 2014.

IMG_7153 Lobby wall graphic 2 (Copy)The information desk is now beside patient registration in the main lobby of the hospital. A new wall has been put up where the desk used to be.

The three washrooms next to the main elevator bank in the lobby have been closed to make way for the new Orthopedic Clinic. Click here for a map of the first floor with locations of alternate washrooms.

Construction reminders:

Avoid using the Main Lobby entrance by Emergency


Please avoid getting picked up/dropped off near emergency if you are going to the BC Children’s main lobby. The area must remain clear for emergency vehicles. Parking in the area is short-term and very limited, so please leave it for people accessing the Emergency Department. Families are encouraged to use the free valet service, or to use the entrance off of Oak Street (by Second Cup)  or the North Entrance (#17).

Please allow extra time when coming to your appointment. Watch for new signage and follow directions of flag persons.

Please drive slowly 
Traffic patterns are constantly changing for both vehicles and pedestrians. Pedestrians may be hidden from view.
