Entrance changes at the Ambulatory Care Building (the one with Starbucks) start TODAY
The main entrance (44) to the Ambulatory Care Building is now closed for the final stage of curb and sidewalk paving. It will stay closed for about two weeks. All other entrances will be open (see map below.) Note: Entrance 46 is not stroller or wheelchair accessible, so if you have wheels, please use Entrance 42 instead.
Occupational Therapy & Physiotherapy waiting area upgrades
The waiting area in the Ambulatory Care Building on the first floor will be going through renovations. Hoarding will surround the old reception desk when a new one is delivered. Work will be completed after hours to make your visit more comfortable.
Increased construction noise continues until Tuesday
Construction of the new Orthopedic Clinic is now underway near the BC Children’s Hospital lobby. To get the details & clinics affected, click here.
When does construction work happen?
- Monday to Friday – 7:30am and 4:00pm.
- Coffee Break: 10:00am to 10:15am, no construction
- Lunch Break: 12:00pm to 12:30pm, no construction
- Weekends: once in a while

Emergency Entrance cautions
Construction is going on near the BC Children’s Hospital Emergency entrance.
Please leave limited parking in the area for families needing the Emergency Department. Use these entrances instead of the one near Emergency to get picked/dropped off:
- Oak Street Entrance #11 (by Second Cup)
- North Entrance #17
Use our Valet Service to park for the same rate as parking your own car
Drive to entrance #36 (Near Emergency).
Leave your car with the valet and he will park it. Regular parking fees apply.

Construction inside BC Children’s Emergency Department
Construction inside the BC Children’s Emergency Department will happen over the next two months, Monday to Friday, 7:30am and 11:00am. There may be minimal impacts to service in the Emergency Department during these times.
BC Children’s Hospital Lobby changes
When you come to the BC Children’s Hospital Lobby you will see some changes. Along with bright colours and designs, we have a new information desk next to patient registration. Lobby washrooms, including the one with an adolescent change table have been moved. Click here for a map of the closest washrooms.

- Please allow extra time when coming to your appointments.
- Watch for new signs and follow directions of flag persons
- Please drive slowly
